Now and Again is my occasional pictorial; Miscellanea’s own variable photo column. Today we visit Mexico City, which to be honest reminded me of Paris in some ways.
Many of you reached out ahead of my trip with excellent recommendations, for which I am grateful and excited to revisit sometime soon; please reach out if you are visiting Mexico City and you'd like access to my Google map of food, drink, art, etc.
Pt. 1, Xochimilco
Xochimilco is a system of ancient Aztec canals on the edge of CDMX. Google it if you’d like! Plenty of mariachi bands and boat-side vendors.
Pt. 2, Black and White
Black and white is a great solution for digital photos that are too rich with information, and also a great way to distill the story within the frame. The longer I take photos, the more I gravitate to this style.
Pt. 3, Light and Texture
These are my favorite kind of photos to take. Unfortunately I was not in town long enough to really get a feel for how to capture Mexico City in my own particular way. These are some nice moments that slipped through that weird learning curve that comes with being in a new place.
Pt. 4, Miscellaneous foods and people
Life in Mexico City feels tailor-made for easygoing pleasure; a familiar sense-of-pace coming from New Orleans.
Great pictures, thanks for sharing!
